Pompeii 1
You are about to undertake a project for which
you will need to use your imagination, to carry out some investigative
work, and to put together an attractive piece of work. The overall
theme for the project is "Pompeii".
Possible ideas
- Write an imaginative story describing the last moments of someone
caught up in the horror of the eruption.
- Put together a newspaper describing the eruption, and perhaps
containing other news about life in the Bay of Naples.
- Imagine your are a Pompeian Estate Agent. Put together a brochure
describing a house which is for sale.
- Imagine you are a Roman Travel Agent. Write a review of Pompeii,
commenting on the entertainment, the shopping opportunities, and
the places to eat and drink.
You may have ideas of your own, and you should be
aware that you do not have to use the ideas in the above list. You
must confirm the title for your project with your teacher before
you begin your work.

You will find that there is a huge amount of information
available to you. Here is a list of some of the resources you have
access to:
Marking
The mark you gain for this project will contribute
to your end of year grade, so it is important that you do as well
as you can. There are 25 marks available, which will be awarded
as follows:
Accuracy of information [15 marks].
Whatever theme you choose, you are expected to include accurate
factual information.
Organisation [5 marks].
As well as meeting the deadline for completing this work, you are
also expected to make sure that everything is delivered in a sensible,
well-ordered manner. Your project must contain 1,000 - 1,500 words.
You should not simply copy information from books or the internet,
but should word it in a manner which is appropriate to your theme.
Presentation. [5 marks].
You must include relevant images, at least two of which should be
of primary evidence. You should try to word-process your work, using
a font no larger than size 14 (except for titles).
